ExpoElectronica and ElectronTechExpo exhibitions business programme included 45 seminars and presentations of exhibitors introducing novelties of the leading world manufacturers and samples of successful engineering solutions.
On 27 April the seminar ‘Electronic component base for the new generation of 5G cellular communication’ organised by the Institute for Microwave Semiconducting Electronics under the Russian Academy of Sciences and PRIMEXPO/ITE St. Petersburg was held. Sergey Gamkrelidze, Director of the Institute for Microwave Semiconducting Electronics under the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. Sc. in Engineering, Professor held the seminar. The seminar was dedicated to the key issues of development of 5G communication systems. It was said that the current 5G means the approach of a technology pool rather than one technology, both existing (under development) and future. Within the seminar there were a few reports, including the results of development of the advanced domestic microwave electronic components base for 35 – 95 GHz frequency, on the modern achievements in the technologies for computerized design of high-speed 5G digital and analog devices and  systems, on high-quality technologies for microwave electronic components and modules. The seminar showed that the 5G technologies came to the level of real practical application and their wide introduction will happen during the nearest 3 – 5 years.

For the 4th time the IPC Hand soldering competition organised by PRIMEXPO/ITE St. Petersburg and IPC Association was held within the exhibitions. The Contest was supported by OSTEC, TERMOPRO, NCAB, SYMMETRON, PLATAN companies. OSTEC and TECHNOALLIANCE ELECTRONICS (brand TERMOPRO) provided the equipped workplaces, NCAB provided PCBs, PLATAN and  SYMMETRON acted as the Contest partners for the first time and provided electronic components. The judges of the Contest consisted of IPC coaches from DIPAUL. This year there were 28 competitors in the Contest, and three winners were determined. The first place holder was awarded with the trip to PRODUCTRONICA exhibition which will be held in Munich in 2017.
